Does the trundle part of a daybed hold a standard size mattress?
I am looking for a bed that will be twin-size during the day and can hold another twin mattress underneath that can be pulled out from under the bed at nighttime. Ideally, I'd like the second mattress to raise up to the height of the daybed so that it wouldbe more like a king-size bed. I already have two standard-size twin mattresses.

yes it does, i have a trundle bed and both mattress are standard size, hope that helps.
Both are the same size.

Consider carefully the raise up type. Some are often quite heavy and require exceptional lifting, until locked into place. We had one that was automatic, but you still had to lift it to the place desired and then it "popped" into the lock. If you have to do this a lot, it is quite tiring.

You might want to consider a Murphy bed if trying to save space. There are also portable Murphy beds that fold up more like a hide-a-bed into a desk, shelf cabinet.
It sure does, we have 3 trundles.
